The Peas Corps

The Peas Corps

In these tough economic times, the ranks of the poor and hungry have risen to record numbers in our community. Sadly, according to the Santa Clara County government, 67 percent of the hungry in Silicon Valley are families with children. Among these families, the most at risk and the most vulnerable are infants and young children. Too young to participate in school-based meal programs and missed by other safety nets, the unique needs of babies and toddlers presents a pressing challenge in our community. Marvell will help make a difference by joining the worldwide campaign against childhood hunger this holiday season and launch a new employee giving program called The Peas Corps.

In cooperation with Second Harvest Food Bank and Feeding America, Marvell's Peas Corps will help raise much-needed food and cash donations directed specifically to the nutritional needs of infants and toddlers. Baby food, cereals, powdered milk, cans of child-friendly proteins, and vegetables are foods that can make an immediate difference in the lives of hungry young ones. In the weeks ahead, you will be asked to join the Peas Corps by donating child-friendly foods. Bins will be distributed around the Marvell campus, special drop-off sites will be located in the parking lot, and fun fundraising competitions will be held throughout the company. Additionally, as a major donor to this year's holiday food drive in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, you will be proud to hear and read about Marvell's community leadership.

We at Marvell are fortunate to work for a great company with a great future. Marvell employees have a long history of rising to the occasion and demonstrating enormous generosity when crises strike around the globe. Sometimes the biggest challenges are closer to home and impact the smallest among us. Childhood hunger is a preventable tragedy - this holiday season, won't you join the Peas Corps?
