88DE8500 Hybrid Silicon Tuner
The Marvell 88DE8500 is a high performance, low power silicon tuner that can tune to Worldwide Analog (NTSC/ PAL/SECAM) and Digital Signals (ATSC, DVB, ISDB, DOCSIS) from either Terrestrial or Cable Networks. Integrated with Marvell's Clear RF™ Technology the chip delivers robust reception performance without using discrete components like LNAs, SAW and tracking filters. The chip is capable of tuning to programs of various bandwidths in the RF spectrum from 40.5 MHz to 1 GHz. The Silicon Tuner when interfaced with Marvell's single chip hybrid demodulators (88DE8020/25, 88DE801x) provides a complete RF front-end for Integrated Digital TVs and Set Top Box markets. The tuner can also be interfaced with 3rd party demodulators and DOCSIS modem chipsets.
Applications
The hybrid silicon tuner when combined with a hybrid demodulator or DOCSIS modem can be used as a standalone front-end module in a variety of applications including:
- Digital televisions (DTV)
- Digital set-top boxes, video recorders
- Cable modem
- PC tuner cards and sticks
To shorten system manufacturers' design cycles and accelerate time-to-market, Marvell provides complete development platforms and reference designs with device drivers, schematics, layout files and other documentation, including detailed standards test results.
