About the Intel XScale Microarchitecture
At the heart of Marvell’s mobile PXA communications and applications processors lies an enhanced ARM-compliant CPU core, known as the Intel XScale micro-architecture. Within the PXA processors, Intel XScale technology is combined with peripherals to enable the design of smaller, higher performance, more cost-effective handheld devices, with the power to deliver unparalleled multimedia experiences. The single Intel XScale micro-architecture, with its ability to operate over a wide range of speeds and power, gives developers the flexibility to design applications for the lowest power consumption or the highest performance.
Intel XScale technology extends Marvell’s industry-leading micro-architecture, which includes the Marvell Feroceon core. Marvell leads the industry in ARM-compliant CPU engineering, and is one of few select companies with a full ARM license. Based on the ARM Version 5TE instruction set, the customized Marvell CPU cores are featured in a comprehensive range of embedded solutions, from network storage devices and media servers to DVRs and smartphones.
