Development Resources

Marvell SoC platforms are designed from the ground up to facilitate rapid application development. Reference designs targeting different applications are available for both the Discovery Innovation Series as well as the Kirkwood Series of processors. Linux, VxWorks, and BSD are supported on these SoCs.

The open hardware reference designs allow effective customization through ODMs and OEMs. Software development on these platforms follow the open source model in which multiple Linux distributions are supported.

The software development kit available with the reference designs includes tools such as UBoot, LSP and a file system. The use of standardized Linux platforms significantly eases the task of application development by leveraging all of the open source software tools and services available.

For developers and specialized platforms, Marvell provides API frameworks that allow third party applications to run within the environment in a secure and resource-defined manner. And for other dedicated specific platforms, Marvell is building a comprehensive platform strategy to spur the growth of an open source community that actively engages in the development of new applications for those platforms.
