Galnet-3 Software Solutions
Marvell offers a wide range of software solutions for our GalNet-3 family of devices, ranging from low level reference device drivers for switch configuration and management, to complete layer 2 and 2+ managed solutions based on our reference designs. Marvell also offers a complete suite of GalNet-3-based development boards that include board support package (BSP) software and GalTis™ our flagship system development and debug tool for switch platforms.
Device Drivers
Marvell provides device drivers for its GalNet family of devices to enable initialization, configuration and management of switch controllers that are optimized for our unique high performance cross bar architecture. The drivers provide Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for management of layer 2 and 3 features, such as Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), Spanning Tree and routing. The devices are programmed for operating system independence and are provided in source code form to enable easy integration with customer hardware platforms and development environments. Each device driver can be applied across all GalNet products, enabling a standard set of APIs for easy development of higher layer applications, and leveraging applications and effort across multiple designs or generations of products.
Development Boards
To enable rapid development of applications by customers, Marvell offers GalNet-based development boards and CPU system controller boards that can be assembled together in minutes to create desired switch and port configurations. Marvell offers BSPs to enable implementation of an operating system platform such as Wind River™ System's VxWorks. Our development boards and board support packages work in tandem with our drivers and standard APIs to create a complete switch system that is ready for management software or application layer software integration.
GalTis™ System Development Tool
Customers may chose to evaluate the functionality and resource requirements of a GalNet-based system prior to embarking on real software development. The GalTis System Development Tool is a revolutionary product that enables customers to explore all aspects of the GalNet devices without writing any code.
GalTis provides a Windows-based graphical user interface that can be used to read and modify registers and tables supported by the device. This allows the creation of various sizes of Media Access Controller (MAC) or VLAN tables to simulate real test environments. An assessment of resource requirements is also available and provides memory and flash sizes for desired features. This enables developers to write and execute scripts that simulate run-time behavior.

Reference Design Solutions
To accelerate time to market, Marvell offers reference designs based on the GalNet family of products. These systems are designed with the end product in mind. With the management software solutions offered in combination with third-party software providers, these systems comprise a complete turnkey solution that developers can take to market very quickly.
