Smart Technology for Power Supplies

With its new line of DSP-based power factor correction (PFC) controllers, Marvell is using its power management expertise to take the lead in green, energy-efficient smart technology for AC-DC desktop power supplies and notebook adapters. Marvell’s PFC controllers integrate more functionality onto a single chip, replacing up to 20 discrete components. Using Marvell’s new smart technology for power supplies, the DSP intelligently determines the amount of power required for users’ applications to keep the peak current at the lowest level, improving energy efficiency as well as reducing overall system size. These new energy-efficient products are designed to be EPA Energy Star and 80Plus Program compliant.

DSP Switcher™ Integrated Regulators

Marvell DSP Switcher™ integrated regulators form the core of the industry’s smallest and highest-performance step-down (buck) power supply.  Unequaled efficiency, precision and transient response are accompanied by smallest solution size to provide system designers with enhanced form factor and battery life in portable equipment.  Integration of power MOSFET’s, internal frequency compensation and single resistor output programming reduce design effort and increase system reliability.  Outputs voltages of 0.72V-3.63V with current levels up to 10A are supported with input voltages of 3.0V-5.5V or 12V.

DSP Switcher Integrated Regulator Modules

Marvell DSP Switcher integrated regulator modules provide plug-and-play implementations of Marvell switching regulator IC’s in convenient, modular form factors.  The same benefits in performance – efficiency, precision, transient response and small size - are preserved while providing a fully assembled, tested and guaranteed power supply.  No design effort is needed to integrate Marvell switching regulator modules into your system – simply choose SIP, DIP or SMT form factors and provide a single programming resistor to set the desired output voltage.  The full range of output voltages 0.72V to 3.63V is supported with one part number.  Output current levels up to 10A are supported with input voltages of 3.0V-5.5V or 12V.
