Marvell demonstrates our leadership in the storage market by continuously innovating solutions that deliver the industry’s fastest data rates and lowest power requirements. Our high-performance read channel transceiver (PHY) devices, System-On-Chip (SOC) solutions and preamplifiers enable our customers to engineer high-volume products for both disk drive and network storage applications. We designed the first Gigabit all-CMOS read channel as well as the first Gigabit-capable SOC. Marvell continues our technology leadership with the introduction of the industry’s first Serial ATA interface solution, enabling us to deliver SATA solutions to a wide variety of products and applications, from notebook and desktop PCs to enterprise-class storage systems.
Read Channel Family
The Marvell Partial Response, Maximum Likelihood (PRML) Read Channel products use advanced mixed-signal and digital signal processing technologies. Marvell’s technology incorporates an efficient data-encoding scheme in addition to advanced digital filtering and data-detection techniques. These products allow customers to achieve high areal density in addition to fast data transfer rates, up to 1.8 Gigabits per second (Gbps) for their hard disk drives. Our read channel products are designed in digital CMOS processes and use custom digital and analog blocks running at very high frequency with low power consumption.
System-On-Chip Family
The Marvell System-On-Chip (SOC) family of storage products is an integrated drive electronics platform that provides increased performance, reduced power consumption and cost savings essential for next-generation hard disk drives (HDDs). The Marvell SOC products enable solutions that can span multiple product generations, reduce risk, save costs, and accelerate time-to-market. These advantages make the Marvell integrated SOC platform an ideal solution for enterprise, desktop and mobile systems.
Preamplifier Family
Marvell offers a complete line of preamplifier integrated circuits (ICs) for mobile, desktop and enterprise-class storage systems. Our preamplifier products provide high-performance, cost-effective solutions for these market segments.
Serial ATA Family
The Marvell Serial ATA family leverages the Company’s unparalleled transceiver (PHY) technology and extensive storage expertise. These products provide storage OEMs with an ideal platform for developing mainstream PC storage and high-performance enterprise subsystems and arrays.
Motor Controller Family
Marvell’s Motor Controllers are designed for use in all mobile Hard Disk Drives, including 2.5”, 1.8” and 1.0”. Today’s mobile drives are used for many different applications, including notebook PCs, digital cameras, camcorders, and other mobile computing consumer products such as digital audio players. All Motor Controllers are operational with 3.3V and 5V power supplies, or low power battery operated devices.
Flash Controller Family
Marvell has leveraged more than 10 years of experience in disk drive controllers and utilized an extensive library of technologies to bring to market a family of controllers for solid state storage. These products provide quick access to frequently used software and files and enhance overall system performance.
