Santa Clara, California (September 30, 2009) – arvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, today announced that the Marvell® Smart™ Wi-Fi 802.11n 3x3 450Mbps Dual-band Access Point was one of the first products to receive the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ n designation from the Wi-Fi Alliance, and has been selected as part of the Wi-Fi Alliance test bed for Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n.

The Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n interoperability test program includes tests for the most widely-deployed 802.11n features, security and quality of service mechanisms. Devices that receive the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n designation have been tested for interoperability with one another and work seamlessly with other Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n equipment within their range. All Marvell 802.11n solutions to date are compliant with the final IEEE 802.11n specification, ensuring continuity and interoperability.

"Marvell is at the forefront of 802.11n technology," noted Partho Mishra, Vice President and General Manager of Marvell's Embedded and Emerging Business Unit. As a group, Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n devices deliver up to five times the throughput, and up to twice the range, of older Wi-Fi equipment. An increasing number of devices – from routers to laptops to connected TVs – will now be engineered to take advantage of 802.11n benefits, including, greater reliability, greater throughput and greater coverage predictability.

"We congratulate Marvell on achieving selection to the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n test bed," said Wi-Fi Alliance Executive Director Edgar Figueroa.
