Smartbooks
Smartbooks are gaining greater interest across the industry as original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) seek increased revenue through new product development and network carriers continue to subsidize consumer devices.
With today's ARM-based system-on-a chip (SoC) solutions approaching laptop processor performance, along with low power consumption and optimized support of standard operating systems (e.g., Linux/Ubuntu, WindowsEmbedded CE, Google Android and Google Chrome OS), smartbooks can deliver innovative form factors, desktop-class performance and always-connected use models that provide compelling solutions to both consumers and enterprise users.
The ARMADA 500 series combines high-performance computing and quality multimedia for devices such as smartbooks and netbooks. These processors deliver best-in-class Marvell CPU cores running the ARM instruction set, run up to 1.2 GHz, vector floating point, a Wireless MMX2 SIMD SIMD coprocessor and 512KB of L2 cache, as along with a flexible DDR1/DDR2/DDR3 interface.
The ARMADA 500 series enables full HD 1080p video and stunning 2D/3D graphics acceleration via hardware engines. These processors also leverage Marvell's strong portfolio of networking and storage interfaces to offer OEMs their choice of high-performance interfaces, such as Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe and S-ATA, as well as platform-level support for all of the key operating systems, frameworks such as Adobe Flash and application environments.
