SPIRIT firmware includes the following advantages:
- In-home plug-and-play installation
- Complete TCP/IP stack for advanced networking features (ICMP, DHCP, FTP, TFTP, NTP, DNS)
- Service classifier with 8 priorities
- Automatic smart repeating for no dead zones in a large installation
- End to end bit encryption for secure communications and content protection
- Full on-chip TR-069 remote configuration and management stack
- Native TR-111 for identification of CPE behind the NAT Gateway
- Link layer topology discovery (Windows LLTD technology)
- Embedded Web server
- Multi-Platform configuration Tool
- Push-button security set-up (OBUS)
- Multicast optimization with IGMP snooping
- Link Activity-based power saving
SPIRIT's modular and powerful API makes it easy to extend the basic functionality of Marvell's UPA and G.hn devices, providing the ability to fine-tune a design to meet the needs of a particular application. Examples include the ability to provide signaling in an adaptive rate MPEG encoding system or providing a customized webpage for parameter configuration. SPIRIT contains a complete, optimized POSIX-compliant TCP/IP stack, providing designers the option of using a wide range of readily available source code, thereby reducing development time and effort.
