1. Package Contents

The Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) driver
for VMware ESXi 5.5 package contains the following file:

 * qlnativefc-<driver-version>.zip - Driver installation bundle

 * qlnativefc-<driver-version>.0.0.<esx-build>.x86_64.vib -
   Driver installation VIB

 * Readme-ESX55.qlnativefc - Driver Readme document

 * Release-ESX55-<driver version>.qlnativefc - Driver Release notes document

 * md5sum-qlnativefc-<driver-version> - md5sum of driver vib

 * qlnativefc-<driver-version>.tar.gz - Driver installation source

2400/2500/2600/10500 Series Fibre Channel adapters
8100/8200/8300 Series Converged Network Adapters


3. Supported operating systems

This release of the Fibre Channel and FCoE driver works with the
following versions of ESX:

 * VMware ESXi 5.5


4. Installing the driver

The operating system manages and controls the driver installation
process. To install the driver, follow the steps in this section.

NOTE: This section provides the most common ways of installing and
upgrading the driver. For other installation procedures, consult the
operating system manuals.

This section provides procedures for the following:

 * 4.1 Updating an Existing Driver or Installing a New Driver for
	 an Existing ESX Installation with esxcli

 * 4.2 Verifying the version of the installed driver

4.1 Updating an Existing Driver or Installing a New Driver for
      an Existing ESXi Installation with esxcli

1. Power on the ESXi host and log into an account with administrator
   capability.

2. Copy the driver bundle (qlnativefc.zip) or driver VIB to this esx
   host.

3. Install the driver bundle using the following steps:
   (Bundle file format: qlnativefc.zip)

     - Make a temporary directory: mkdir /install; cd /install
     - Unzip driver bundle in temporary directory /install
     - Run command:
       esxcli software vib install -n vmware-esx-qlnativefc -d /install

     OR

     Install the driver VIB using the following esxcli command:
     (VIB file format:
      qlnativefc-<driver-version>.0.0.<esx-build>.x86_64.vib)

     - esxcli software vib install -v <driver-vib-path>

4.2 Verifying the version of the installed driver

1. Power on the ESXi host.

2. Verify the installed package in the system using command:

     esxcli software vib list | grep qlnativefc

     Driver version is embedded in the VIB-version (i.e. 2nd field of
     output).

     Sample-Output:
     ======
     # esxcli software vib list | grep qlnativefc
	vmware-esx-qlnativefc          1.1.1.0-1vmw.550.0.0.1061776          VMware
	VMwareCertified   2013-04-17
     ======


5. Additional Notes

* UnInstalling the Driver

The operating system manages and controls the driver uninstallation
process. To uninstall the driver, follow the steps in this section.

1. Power on the ESXi host and log into an account with administrator
   capability.

2. Check if the driver vib is installed using command (refer section
   4.2):

     esxcli software vib list | grep qlnativefc

3. Uninstall the driver using the following command:

     esxcli software vib remove -f --maintenance-mode -n vmware-esx-qlnativefc
