OCTEON Fusion processors are single chip solutions for multi-sector macro BTS, micro BTS and intelligent remote radio heads targeting 2G, 3G and LTE radio networks. For LTE, OCTEON Fusion-M processors support up to 3GPP LTE Release 13. Key features include highly optimized full custom processor cores, a highly efficient caching subsystem, high memory bandwidth as well as a flexible and high performance PHY.
The CNF75xx family of processors is a full L1-L7 implementation supporting base station designs ranging from high capacity picocells at 800 simultaneous users all the way up to multi sector macro cells with up to 3600 simultaneous users. Additionally, multiple OCTEON Fusion CNF75xx chips can be cascaded for even denser deployments or higher order MIMO. The CNF75xx integrates highly optimized custom 64 bit MIPS cores and multiple VLIW DSP engines along with a host of hardware accelerators for the wireless modem pipeline, network processing and traffic shaping.
The OCTEON Fusion CNF73xx family of processors is a full L1-L7 implementation supporting microcell-class base stations with up to 500 simultaneous LTE users across 1 to 4 20MHz sectors. In addition to the most advanced 3GPP LTE releases, CNF73xx processors also can support GSM and WCDMA protocols. It is also possible to run LTE and WCDMA simultaneously using the CNF73xx family. OCTEON Fusion CNF73xx processors share many of the same architectural features as larger CNF75xx processors, including JESD204B and CPRI radio interfaces.
The CNF73xx family is designed to allow system OEMs and operators to build next generation radio access networks in a variety of configurations: dense urban microcells, rural microcells, and intelligent radio heads for disaggregated or Cloud RAN implementations.
