Las Vegas, Nevada (May 22, 2007) – arvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), the leader in storage, communications and consumer silicon solutions, today announced that its Prestera® family of Ethernet switch solutions has been validated for interoperability with the Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ: AMCC) QT2035/35S 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) physical layer (PHY) IC. The interoperability test bed was the Marvell® DB-DX273-24G-3XG reference platform, and tests were conducted in Marvell testing facilities. The integrated Marvell/AMCC® platform will enable the smooth migration to the SFP+ form factor and will increase adoption of 10 GbE for high-performance storage and networking.
“The comprehensive testing of the Marvell/AMCC platform illustrates our ability to provide a robust, high-performance solution that will help propel the migration to the SFP+ form factor and adoption of the 10 GbE standard,” stated Simon Milner, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Business Unit, Communications and Consumer Business Group at Marvell.
AMCC’s QT2035 supports XFP modules; the QT2035S incorporates the electronic dispersion compensation (EDC) and signal conditioning functions needed for the emerging SFP+ small form factor standard. Designed for Ethernet LAN, WAN, and SAN applications, they support all current and emerging fiber-optic Ethernet PMDs including 10GBASE-SR/LR/ER and LRM.
"Validating interoperability between our market leading QT2035/35S XFP and SFP+ chips and Marvell’s Prestera Ethernet switch technology highlights the commitment we have to the 10 GbE market. By delivering this joint evaluation, best-in-class platform we enable our customers to accelerate their ability to participate in this competitive and demanding market and facilitate their deployment,” according to Mitch Kahn, vice president of marketing, AMCC Transport Products.
