Marvell ARMADA 1000 Wins EDN Innovation Award for Best Multimedia System-on-Chip
EDN Recognizes Marvell, for the Second Time, for Its Industry-Changing Innovation
Santa Clara, California (April 29, 2010) – Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced the Marvell® ARMADA™ 1000 HD Media Processor System-on-a-Chip (SoC), 88DE3010, has won the 2009 EDN Innovation Award for best Multimedia SoC. The winners of the EDN 2009 Innovation Awards, judged by the publication's technical editors and an online poll of EDN readers, were unveiled at a reception at the Silicon Valley Capital Club in San Jose earlier this week.
The Marvell ARMADA 1000 HD Media Processor SoC targets network-connected consumer electronics applications, including Blu-ray players, digital media adapters, HD digital TVs, and HD set-top boxes. The ARMADA 1000 is designed to enable multiple networked applications and many operating system frameworks, in conjunction with high performance, immersive viewing experiences for the next generation of connected high definition consumer electronics platforms. Equipped with two high-performance Sheeva™ CPU cores running frequencies up to 1.2 GHz, an award-winning Qdeo™ video processing pipeline, dedicated hardware acceleration for multi-format video and audio decoding, and a comprehensive set of peripherals, the ARMADA 1000 HD Media Processor SoC is designed to enable development of high performance consumer electronic products for the end user.

This award is the latest of several industry accolades for the Marvell ARMADA 1000 HD Media Processor SoC; most recently, the ARMADA 1000 was honored by Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity with the "Best Media Processor SoC" award for 2009.
