Marvell Raises the Bar for High Performance and Secure Smart TV Experience with Newly Launched Quad-Core ARMADA 1500 PRO Platform

Latest addition to the award-winning ARMADA 1500 family, the new innovative ARMADA 1500 PRO processor features quad-core ARM CPU, sophisticated security engine and advanced graphics processor optimized for Google services for Smart TV

Las Vegas and Santa Clara, California (January 7, 2014) – Quadrupling the performance on its award-winning system-on-chip (SoC) platform family, Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL) today unveiled the ARMADA® 1500 PRO (88DE3114) a quad-core platform optimized to support Google services for Smart TV and complete IP-hybrid service security from Verimatrix. The ARMADA 1500 PRO is a high performing multi-core ARM CPU platform that is powering a highly immersive, innovative, and secure High Definition digital experience in the consumer's living room and across multiple screens. The powerful ARMADA 1500 PRO with a sophisticated security engine, up to 12K DMIPs applications processor, and a 38GFLOP graphics processor creates new business models for Smart TV and set-top box implementations, driving the convergence of digital entertainment and gaming applications and paving the way for the next-generation of Smart Home devices.

Marvell's ARMADA 1500 PRO SoC enables new rich media TV applications and Google services for Smart TVs powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU. With a multi-core 1.2 Gigapixel GPU based on Vivante GC4000, the ARMADA 1500 PRO enables support for high quality 3D gaming that will support new gaming business models and also provides the ultimate graphical user interface (GUI) for a compelling User Experience (UX). The award-winning Qdeo® video processing for state-of-the-art HD and 3D video consistently delivers high-quality 1080p60 video for an immersive entertainment experience, while real-time encode/decode capabilities power multi-screen and video calling applications. Additionally, the ARMADA 1500 PRO is targeting service providers worldwide, who require high performance media and application processing in a highly secure fashion, to run new revenue generating services for their consumers. ARMADA 1500 PRO's overall security architecture including secure boot, Trusted Rendering Path, and full Trustzone means operators can bring together the best OTT + PayTV experience with a high level of content protection. Additionally, multiple (4) TS input support, enables operators to offer hybrid services combining compelling IP content along with traditional broadcast TV.

The ARMADA 1500 PRO includes Google services for Smart TV reference designs for both TVs and set-top boxes. It includes full integration and a complete SDK for rapid deployment of combined Pay TV and Android-based over-the-top services. It offers complete platforms with multiple connectivity options, including Marvell's Wi-Fi (2x2 11ac) and powerline technologies. A complete set of peripherals include SATA, SDIO, USB for operator/consumer apps such as DVR and 10/100/1000 Ethernet MAC with RGMII interface for robust IP connectivity.
