Marvell Wireless Devices Selected As “Best 802.11g Chip Set” By The Linley Group

Sunnyvale, California (August 12, 2004) –

Marvell® (NASDAQ: MRVL), a technology leader in the development of extreme broadband communications and storage solutions, today announced that its industry-leading Marvell Libertas® Wireless LAN solution has been selected as the best 802.11g chip set by The Linley Group.   Marvell’s wireless devices were selected after a thorough analysis and in-depth product comparisons were conducted – the results of which appear in a new report titled, “A Guide to Wireless LAN Chip Sets,” by the Linley Group.

“We picked Marvell’s latest Libertas chip set because it offers excellent integration, range and battery life,” stated Bob Wheeler, senior analyst and co-author of the Linley Group report. “Additionally, the integration of several external components such as a power amplifier and radio chip allow the Marvell two-chip set to compare favorably to the single-chip designs.”

“We are honored by the Linley Group’s recognition of the Libertas devices as the best 802.11g chip set,” says Dr. James Chen, Product Marketing and Line Manager for WLAN Products, Marvell.  “This honor emphasizes the strength of Marvell’s wireless technology and solutions. Our market-leading features are the result of coupling advanced chipset technology with innovative SW functionality.  Together, they allow Marvell to offer end products that provide true innovation and unparallel levels of performance. To have our products chosen over all of the other competitors in this market speaks very highly for our technology and product vision.”
