Marvell Wireless LAN Solution Chosen by Pirelli Broadband Solutions: Modular Design and High Performance Cited as Factors in Selection Process

Hanover, Germany and Sunnyvale, California (March 10, 2005) – arvell® (NASDAQ: MRVL), the technology leader in the development of extreme broadband communications and storage solutions announced today at the CeBIT conference in Hanover, Germany that Pirelli Broadband Solutions, the new company within Pirelli & C. SpA (MIL:PECI) that develops customer premise equipment and service platforms for telecommunications operators worldwide, has selected Marvell to provide Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) functionality for Pirelli's DiscusTM Modular NetGate.  Pirelli’s access gateway allows telecommunications operators to deploy services when needed through modular expansion, resulting in a lower, upfront capital expenditure.  Furthermore, by supplying the end customer with add-on components such as the DiscusTM Modular NetGate WiFi and VoIP modules, the telecommunications operator can up-sell new services. Combine this with Marvell’s unique, self-contained WLAN module and telecommunications operators and end customers are able to immediately and cost effectively add WLAN capabilities to its existing DSL gateway.  Marvell will demo its WLAN solutions at Booth B07, Hall 21 at CeBIT.

"We are extremely pleased that Pirelli has chosen our industry leading solutions for their innovative product offerings,” said Kishore Manghnani, Marvell General Manager, Broadband Home Business Unit, Communications Business Group.  “Pirelli understands the transition from DSL to wireless is gaining momentum and with this transition, understands the need to deliver an infrastructure that evolves with the needs of the customer. We are excited to join Pirelli in this endeavor.”

"The flexibility of Marvell’s self-contained WLAN solutions enabled us to provide cost-effective, high performance wireless functionality without disturbing the architecture of our standard product lines,” said Anna Duce, senior vice president of Marketing and Product Management - BroadBand Access for Pirelli Broadband Solutions.  "Equally important, Marvell’s superior performance provides customers with better range and connection in the home.  We are excited to partner with Marvell in our efforts to meet our customer’s needs.”

Pirelli's innovative solutions allow individuals to leverage a single connection for their DSL and wireless needs, providing them with the flexibility to build an in-home network that is customized with the services that are most important to them.  Customers are able to add advanced functionality as their home networking needs grow.

Marvell is the industry leader in WLAN solutions for highly integrated home gateways.  Marvell’s self-contained WLAN chip provides flexibility and advanced functionality without compromising existing architecture or certification.
