Santa Clara, California (May 20, 2010) – Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced that Weili Dai, Co-founder and Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer and Computing Business Unit at Marvell, has been selected to receive a 2010 Tribute to Women (TWIN) Award from the YWCA of Silicon Valley.
"I am extremely honored and humbled to be chosen as a recipient of this esteemed award," said Weili Dai. "The award really goes to the entire Marvell family in recognition of the great company we have built together. More importantly, I hope my story—having come to San Francisco from Shanghai as an immigrant 30 years ago, speaking very little English—can inspire other women to pursue their dreams. I believe that if I can do it, anyone can. I applaud the YWCA for all it does to promote and encourage women leaders."
The TWIN Awards Program has long been considered one of Silicon Valley's most prestigious awards. The award honors both women executives who exemplify excellence in executive-level positions, as well as the companies who employ them.
"Weili Dai exemplifies the very spirit of the TWIN Award," said Keri Procunier McLain, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer, YWCA of Silicon Valley. "As the only woman co-founder of a top global semiconductor company in the world, she is a pioneer and inspiration for other women throughout the Silicon Valley and nation. As a business leader, mother and mentor, she represents the best of the TWIN Award ideals."
Funds generated through sponsorship of the TWIN dinner allow the YWCA of Silicon Valley to continue its mission to empower women, children and their families, and to eliminate racism, hatred and prejudice. For more than 100 years, the YWCA, with the help of donors and partners, has provided support and services to the community.
