Samsung Launches New Global Mass Market Galaxy J1 LTE Smartphone Powered by Marvell's Industry-Leading ARMADA Mobile PXA1908 Platform

Marvell's cost optimized quad-core 64-bit ARMADA Mobile PXA1908 platform features field proven 5-mode 4G LTE modem, integrated location and sensor fusion hub, and advanced ISP technology and supports the latest Android L operating system

Santa Clara, California (March 2, 2015) – Marvell (NASDAQ:MRVL) – a worldwide leader in providing complete silicon solutions from mobile communications to storage, Internet of Things (IoT), cloud infrastructure, digital entertainment and in-home content delivery and Kinoma® software enabling the “Smart Life and Smart Lifestyle,” – today announced that the Marvell ARMADA® Mobile PXA1908 platform and advanced Avastar® 88W8777 wireless connectivity solution were selected by Samsung Mobile to power select models of  its new global mass market LTE smartphone, the recently announced Samsung Galaxy J1 LTE smartphone. Marvell’s cost-optimized 64-bit mobile processor features quad-core ARM Cortex A53, efficient power management, integrated location and sensor fusion technology, field proven 5-mode 4G LTE modem technology, and advanced ISP technology and supports the latest Android L operating system. The ARMADA Mobile PXA1908 supports today’s most popular cellular communications including: TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, HSPDA+ and GSM/EDGE. The Samsung Galaxy J1 LTE began its launch in January 2015.

The ARMADA Mobile PXA1908 is a quad-core 64-bit 5-mode LTE system-on-chip (SoC) that enables easy integration from 2G and 3G connectivity to 4G LTE. It offers a cost-optimized quad-core Cortex A53 with up to 1.5GHz clock speed, improved image processing to support 8MP camera sensors, advanced power management and integrated location and sensor hub functionalities for better usability. Additionally, Marvell’s 64-bit family of mobile SoCs pave the way for device makers to release 64-bit tablets and smartphones with the Android L operating system.
