Built on the success of the Coolpad 8150 smartphone, top Chinese handset maker Yulong Coolpad launches the next-generation Coolpad 8180 powered by Marvell's PXA920H

Santa Clara, California (August 8, 2012) – Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL) and Yulong Telecommunication, Ltd., a professional provider of integrated solutions for smartphone handsets, mobile data platform systems and value-added business operations, announced the new-generation Coolpad 8180 smartphone powered by the Marvell® PXA920H chipset is available for China Mobile customers. Having shipped more than one million units of the previous Coolpad 8150 model since February, the next generation Coolpad 8180 joins one of China Mobile’s top-five selling smartphone lines. The already hot-selling Coolpad 8180 smartphone is the latest device resulting from Marvell and Yulong Coolpad’s ongoing endeavor to provide affordable, global devices for one of the world’s most important and lucrative mobile markets. Both Coolpad models, as well as Yulong Coolpad’s original Coolpad 8810 smartphone, are powered by Marvell’s PXA920 family of silicon solutions, the industry’s first commercially available single-chip China 3G TD-SCDMA smartphone solution.

“Yulong Coolpad is one of China’s fastest growing mobile handset providers, having already sold more than one million Coolpad smartphones powered by Marvell’s mobile solutions in less than six months. I’m proud to see the continued success and mass adoption of China’s 3G TD-SCDMA standard by top mobile OEMs in China,” said Weili Dai, Co-Founder of Marvell. “The new generation Coolpad 8180 will expand Yulong’s top selling smartphone line to the mass market with advance features and affordability for China Mobile’s more than 650 million subscribers.”

“Marvell’s long-term commitment to the China market and its PXA920 family’s proven track record, which has helped catapult our Coolpad 8150 to great success, makes the company an unequalled silicon partner for our next-generation of mobile devices,” said Guo Deying, CEO of Yulong Coolpad. “As Yulong Coolpad continues to grow, we look forward to further expanding our successful collaboration with Marvell and introducing new smartphones that make the connected lifestyle a reality for millions of Chinese consumers.”

The new Coolpad 8180, priced at 1000 RMB, also features the Marvell Avastar® 88W8787 wireless solution, which is Bluetooth 3.0 and FM enabled, offering exceptional Wi-Fi range with beamforming technology, robust 802.11n connectivity and crystal clear audio quality.
