ZTE's Flagship Grand Memo LTE Smartphone Achieves China Mobile TD-LTE Certification with Marvell's Industry Leading 4G LTE Solution

Marvell's ARMADA Mobile PXA1802 4G LTE modem enables ZTE’s first TD-LTE smartphone now widely available for China Mobile's more than 650 million subscribers

Las Vegas and Santa Clara, California (January 6, 2014) – Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL) today announced that ZTE’s flagship Grand Memo LTE smartphone has achieved China Mobile TD-LTE certification with Marvell’s industry leading 4G LTE solution. Marvell’s ARMADA® Mobile PXA1802 4G LTE modem enables ZTE’s first TD-LTE smartphone now widely available for China Mobile’s nearly 760 million subscribers. Enabling high performance 4G LTE devices, the Marvell PXA1802 modem integrates Time-Division Duplexing (TDD), Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) Long-Term Evolution (LTE), Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA), Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and Enhanced Data for the GSM Environment (EDGE) technology onto a single chip that is fully backward compatible with current China TD-SCDMA standards. It is designed to meet the needs of the next generation of mobile connectivity. As one of the first 4G smartphones to receive China’s TD-LTE mobile phone network access license and to pass China Mobile’s CMCC OT tests, the ZTE Grand Memo LTE (U9815) demonstrates the advantages of Marvell solutions in TD-LTE and its cooperation with ZTE.

“I would like to congratulate ZTE for achieving this significant milestone with China Mobile Certification. From TD-SCDMA to TD-LTE, I am very proud of our long-term collaboration with China Mobile and key OEMs in the mobile ecosystem in bringing advanced and affordable mobile solutions to the greater than 1 billion consumers in China,” said Weili Dai, President and Co-Founder of Marvell.  “From smartphones to tablets and mobile hotspots, Marvell’s multi-mode 4G LTE solution has enabled high-quality, reliable, and secure communication across an expanding class of new Smart devices, leading the way for 2014 to become a big year for mass deployment of 4G LTE around the world.”

The Marvell’s PXA1802 modem has a thin and cost-efficient architecture that allows fast implementation on the latest LTE and TD-SCDMA terminals in a flexible design. The PXA1802 supports next-generation LTE standards with 3GPP LTE Release 9 Category 4 up to 150 Megabits-per-Second (Mbps) downlink speed and Release 8 TD-SCDMA High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA+). In addition to Marvell’s ARMADA Mobile PXA1802 LTE modem, the ZTE Grand Memo LTE (U9815) also features Marvell’s 88RF838 transceiver, 88PG8211 and 88PM809 for its power management unit (PMU).

Previously, Marvell and ZTE had collaborated in demonstrating the world’s first end-to-end voice over TD-LTE (VoTD-LTE) call on the China Mobile network. http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/en/press_center/news/201306/t20130607_399835.html
